Found Film

Found Film is a cool “art” of processing film found in old cameras that have been picked at flea markets, antique stores, garage sales, etc.

One of the best people at processing these films is a guy on the photo.net site known as “Gene M.”. His site is here.

Other sites with similar images:

It is very cool to look at these images that people took a long time ago, but for whatever reason, never had developed and thus never seen.

8 times in 3 years

How is it a company (Consumers Energy) can have such issues with power lines EVERY single time the winds go above 20 mph? 5AM today the power went out because of high winds and returned 10 hrs later. That actually is pretty fast in Consumers Energy time. Usually it’s 2 or 3 days…

The issue is that you’d think that they would figure out that wherever they have issues they’d work out some solution where they wouldn’t have to go and fix it every time we have one of these storms. Novel concept, I know….

Bensenville, IL

Forbes has an interesting article on-line about “America’s Fastest Dying Towns” and Bensenville is #1.

Living there almost half my life, I think I have a little understanding of the town. Here is my “comment” to the article:

Bensenville used to be a typical midwestern farming / railroad town. But manufacturing took hold and it changed. It used to have the largest railyard on the Milwauke Road railroad. Companies like Beeline, Jovan and Flick-Reedy used to have there headquarters there. My grandparents, parents and aunts and uncles lived there until the late 70′s early 80′s. The town changed alot in that time but nothing like it has changed in the last 5 years with the expansion of O’hare and the planned bypass that will run on the west side of O’hare from I-90 to I-294, splitting what is left of Bensenville in half.

Mayor Daley and his O’hare expansion is the major reason this town is dying. That is main force in what is pushing residents away and the manufacturing jobs that used to be there. What is good for Chicago isn’t what is best for it’s suburbs. Once Bensenville goes, watch what happens to Elk Grove Village’s east side and Schiller Park when O’hare needs to be “expanded” again.

Richard Daley does a great job with the city of Chicago, but he isn’t making friends in the suburbs with his expansion of O’hare. The city of Bensenville will no longer exist in 10 to 15 years.
