Bennigan's - Gull Rd. 03/06/2006 (Dinner)

The food here is always pretty good. I had the Buffalo Chicken sandwich and the chicken was so thick that I had to take it out of the bun to eat it. The best part of the meal though was our waiter. When I can remember his name, I'll put it in here, but he was very good. He talked to my 18 month old son like he was an older child, but not condescendingly, and paid attention so well that he called him by his name each time he came by. He also made sure that drinks were kept full and that anything we needed was taken care of quickly. I should also mention that this was not during some slow time, but between 5 and 6 PM.

Portillo's Hot Dogs - Elmhurst IL 03/05/2006 (Lunch)

Something is up at Portillo's.... You now have to ask for the cucumbers on the hotdog, not enough celery salt, sport peppers on one hot dog but not the other and no spoon/fork to eat my tamale with. I love Portillo's and I always have. Maybe this was a one time occurance. Next time I'm over in Chicago, I'll give it another try. If it is the same way, time to get a hold of Dick Portillo and ask what the scoop is.

Bob Evans - Stadium Drive 03/04/2006 (Breakfast)

Standard Bob Evans visit. I tried this new Egg and Sausage bake thing and it was very good. It looks like a small portion but when you start to eat it you realize how much food it really is. The only issue I have with Bob Evans, and it wasn't just this time, is that they must have a small number of wait staff at their disposal. Our waitress was rushed to the point where she was practically throwing the meals down on the table just to get her other orders out. Plus, we were almost done with our meals before someone came around and offered to refill the coffee in our cups.
